April 2025 News
NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2025Food Waste Separation Law Being EnforcedWe’re excited to share an important step towards a more sustainable future! Starting 31st March 2025, the Food Waste Separation Law will officially come into force. This new legislation is designed to reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfills by requiring businesses with 10 or more full-time employees to separate food waste for proper recycling or composting and have separate collections for specific materials such as paper, plastics, metal and food waste. By doing so, we can help cut greenhouse gas emissions and support the development of renewable energy sources.
It’s a small change in our daily routine but a giant leap for the planet. What does this mean for you? All food scraps will need to be placed in a designated food waste container and collected by your waste provider accordingly. Most businesses already have mixed recycling collections in place, but the new legislation states that paper and cardboard should be separated and collected separately apart from where it isn’t possible for technical, economic, environmental or practical reasons.
